2010 Here We Come!

I just found this blog by looking at our church website. As I looked through the pictures and read the little stories, I was amazed that I hadn't remembered most of them. Well, I reset my password and I intend to use this site more and more. If anything it will be a time to remember the great times of being a mom of young children. I know that won't last forever:( 2010 Here I come!

The Scary Car Wash

I was sort of taken aback by Mia's reaction to the car wash. As you can see she was pretty unsure about the whole thing. I have always loved car washes. I still get a little giddy when I am sitting in one watching all the soap and water do its thing. Oh yeah, and the song "Car Wash" always seems to emerge from my lips during the process.

Mmmm Lasagna

I made lasagna last night for the family. So, we ate the leftovers today after church. I have to say that I enjoy lasagna alot more the next day. Whatever chemical change it goes through covered in foil, sitting in the fridge does miracles. Heath even left me the last piece! What a sweetie! Say with me everyone in your best Homer Simpson voice, "lasaaaaagna!"

Thunder?

This morning I was startled out of bed by a loud crashing noise. What was it? Living in the city has really changed me. My first thoughts were "Maybe it was a Meth Lab exploding or a car crashing down the street?" Then I heard it again. Duh, it was thunder. What a long winter it has been! I am so glad spring is here. I'll take thunder and rain. Have a splish-splashy day!

Momma Bear

Hagin and Heath are in Michigan. They and a few families from church rode the train and are planning to see the airplane museum. Heath called me tonight and told me that Hagin was having a rough trip. He has just been sick but he desperately wanted go. So, I said yes. I forgot to pack swimming trunks-so no pool for Hagin at the hotel. And he is having personality conflicts with his room-mate (I'll leave it at that). Well, momma bear came out and I wanted to get in the car and drive the six hour trip to pick him up. But wait-he is 10 years old. I can't rescue him from every little conflict or every bad day. So this is what it is like to let go. It's not very much fun. In fact it's a little scary. All I can do is pray and believe that Hagin will find enough strength to smile past the disappointments and salvage what is left of the trip. I don't like this growing up thing very much:(

A Day Off

Today Heath & I took a day to just be together. Hagin was in school, Mia went to Baba and Poppy's and Anita worked for me! The weatherman pitched in and gave us the warmest, sunniest day of 2009. We had a great time riding our motorcycle-driving to places I didn't even know existed. We ate some of the best burgers we have ever eaten, courtesy of Gary & Judi Leary's Christmas gift certificate. And we TALKED! No matter how close you are to someone-you can always get closer. I remember when we were dating, thinking are we ever going to run out of things to say to each other? Life has a way of turning coversations into plain boring words. "Honey where's the ketchup?" Today we took a step forward in our relationship and rediscovered those conversations hiding in our words. "I wonder who invented ketchup, anyway?"
